ST. LUCIE COUNTY RECYCLING SALUTES CAPT. MICHAEL HOWARD WITH THE NAVY UDT-SEAL MUSEUM
NORTH HUTCHINSON ISLAND - St. Lucie County's Solid Waste Department salutes Capt. Michael Howard of the Navy UDT-SEAL Museum for his efforts in starting a recycling program on North Hutchinson Island.
"After months of unsuccessful attempts to place a paper recycling container at various locations on north beach, Capt. Howard jumped at the opportunity to help recycling paper products from North Hutchinson Island residents," said Jacquie Burgess, St. Lucie County recycling manager.
Residents can take their paper products to the Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, 3300 North A1A. The museum, which recently received federal designation, is open Monday (January - May only) from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon - 4 p.m. However, the paper bin will be placed outside the museum gate, so residents can recycle anytime.
If you are a civic group, non profit, school or condo and would like to recycle paper contact Roger at S.P. Recycling at (772) 216-3179. They accept junk mail, magazines, catalogs, office paper, loose leaf paper, shredded paper and newspapers. When the container is full, S.P. will pick it up, and deliver an empty container. S.P. will then issue a check depending on quantity of paper in the container.
