The Fort Pierce Chapter of Links, Incorporated, a non-profit service organizastion for women, isin the process of recycling cell phones for its "Cell Phones for Soilders Project".
The organization has been collecting used cell phones from family members, friends and the community, since last December.
Through the National Cell Phone for Soldiers Foundation, soldiers will receive pre-paid calling cards so that they may keep in touch with their families and friends back home in the USA.
International Facet Chairperson, Venda Burgess of Vero Beach, along with Co-Chairs Myrna Bridges and Jovita Williams of Port St. Lucie, Florida recently presented approximately (40) cell phones to Mary Rose Cuoco, Branch Manager at the Virginia Avenue Harbor Federal Savings Bank in Ft. Pierce, Florida, one of the local drop-off sites. Since then, more phones have been collected.
Links President Taunya Bryant says that "the Links organization wants to show appreciation and friendship to the many deployed soldiers who are bravely serving in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and other overseas venues".
For more information or to donate used cell phones, please call (772) 567-3005, (772) 479-0500 or contact any member of the Fort Pierce Chapter of Links, Incorporated.
