Writer Christine Murphy and Illustrator Kristie Dagenais both of Vero Beach, have teamed up to bring you the perfect children's bedtime story
Where is my Soul? It is an adorable, richly illustrated story about a boy who asks the question so many of us have and is led by his mother along a journey of self discovery.
Christine Murphy began her journey in writing
Where is my Soul? about 11 years ago. While talking to her church minister one day, they began a discussion about how to tell children why people would be born with disabilities. Christine said, "I always tell my kids that it is not about how we look on the outside. We are all perfect because our souls are perfect." It was because of that conversation and prompting from her minister that Christine began the process of writing the book. The book was written but then put on a shelf. Christine got busy with life and forgot about it for a while.
One day, while watching the Eckhart Tolle web cast, Oprah quoted a line from her book. Chris took this as a sign and she began the steps towards getting the book published. It has been strange and wonderful to see how the project has just found a way to come to fruition. From being led to Kristie Dagenais, the very talented artist who lent her talents to the book to finding the local printer who helped her self-publish it, and finally, to the local book store that is now carrying the book. It has been a labor of love and Christine, a reading teacher in the district for many years, hopes that the book will find its way into the homes and hearts of Vero Beach's children. the perfect bedtime story for children of any age and one that kids will ask to hear again and again.
