The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) is seeking adult volunteers to help with animal foster care. Foster volunteers help to house and care for both adult and baby animals and provide a safe environment for them to mature, become more socialized, or heal from an existing wounds or illness.
Since foster volunteering can be either short or long-term commitment depending upon the needs of the animal, volunteers will be paired up with animals who will best fit into their lifestyle and schedule. "Fostering an animal takes great commitment but is truly worthwhile and rewarding," says HSVB & IRC Foster Care Coordinator Tina Hoormann.
Foster volunteers will receive full training and support from shelter staff. The next volunteer orientation will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. For more information about the Humane Society's foster volunteer program or to RSVP for the orientation, please call (772) 388-3331 ext. 20 or e-mail the shelter's Volunteer Department at pkohler@hsvb.org.
