CAN YOU HELP ME........PLEASE?
Contributed by: SHARON MARSHALL on 4/21/2008

My name is Jessica Chahl. I am 6 1/2 years old and the doctors have told my Mommy and Daddy that I may not live to see my 7th birthday in 2008.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I am asking for your help.

I was born on September 11, 2001. That's right. That horrible day some very bad things happened to our country. I started out as a normal girl. I could ride my 2 wheeler at age 31/2, write my full name, knew the alphabet and could count up to 20 at age 4. Mommy and Daddy always have been and still are, very proud of me. At 5 years old, I had my first seizure. It was May 2007 and it was pretty scary. My parents took me to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando, FL to have an MRI done to find out why I had my seizure. The doctors found a spot on my brain and told my parents to let it go and see if it changed.

We did just that until more tests were taken and revealed that the spot had grown larger. I had brain surgery on August 28, 2007 and had some of the tumor removed. Unfortunatley, it was discovered that I had Glioblastoma, the worst of all incurable cancers. At this point, my family and I were sent to St. Jude's Medical Research Hospital in Memphis, TN for 3 months of intensive radiation and chemotherapy. Mom, Dad and the doctors were amazed at how well I did through all of the treatments. I lost all my hair but my eyelashes grew back longer and more beautiful than ever.

I try to do things that all 6 years olds do, but get very tired. I know God is watching out for me and will help me day by day. I still go to school when I can and I like to play board games with my brother and uncle.

I had another seizure at home in Vero Beach, FL the week of March 31st. I was taken to the local hospital and in just a few hours was taken by ambulance back to the Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital. The doctors there spoke with the doctors at St Jude's Hospital in Memphis. Everyone has done everything they can for me and I was sent home on April 4th. There will be no more treatment for me. My Mom and Dad and brother Georgie are taking good care of me, but we all live "ONE DAT AT A TIME."

I am asking for your financial help so my Mom and Dad can pay all of our many medical bills and we can live the best life possible while I am on this earth. I know I will see God soon and will say "Hello" from all of you. Anything and everything you can do will sure help our family. Some nice folks have set up a fund to help with all these expenses at the following place:

National City Bank (all branches)
Payable to the Jessica Chahl Trust

I want to thank you all, each and every one of you, for helping me and my family. God Bless You All
