The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) is seeking Indian River County's finest felines, handsomest hounds, fanciest ferrets and most beautiful bunnies for its 2009 Pet Calendar. "We're looking for photos that will highlight our community's love of companion animals," says HSVB & IRC Development Assistant Kristin Vandrilla.

Photos will be selected based on clarity and originality and pets adopted from humane societies, animal shelters or rescue organizations will be given top priority. A calendar pinup preference: "With so many lost animals brought to the shelter we ask that animals be photographed wearing a collar and ID tag, if possible," Vandrilla explains.
