TCBA to offer Green Advantage® Certification class September 3

PORT ST. LUCIE (August 5, 2008) -The Treasure Coast Builders Association (TCBA) will offer a Green Advantage® Certification class on Wednesday, September 3, 2008.

The 8-hour certification course, will take place at the TCBA office, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in Port St. Lucie. Cost is $205 for TCBA members and includes materials as well as a continental breakfast and lunch. Those interested in taking the class must register and pay for the class by August 29, 2008.

Green Advantage® is an environmental certification for building-related practitioners-primarily contractors, subcontractors and trades people. Certified individuals must pass a proctored exam demonstrating knowledge of current green building principles, materials, and techniques.

Class participants who wish to sit for the Green Advantage® exam, may do so on Wednesday, September 10, 9 a.m., also at the TCBA office, which is locates at 6560 South Federal Highway in Port St. Lucie. The cost for the exam is $130.

Participants can take the course without sitting for the exam, but will not receive certification. 8 CEU credits are earned for attending the September 3 class.

The last Green Advantage® Certification class resulted in 22 local building experts-ranging from home builders to cabinet companies, to engineers and architects--receiving their certifications.

Building experts achieving this designation have proven knowledge about green building techniques and approaches that use green building materials, energy- and water-efficient technologies, sustainable construction technologies that enhance disaster resistance, methods that improve air quality, and land planning practices that protect wildlife habitats and soil and water.
