Childcare Resources of Indian River, a United Way agency, will host its second FDIC Money Smart Financial Education Program session on Thursday, November 5.
The session, entitled, "Borrowing Basics:
An introduction to credit," will be facilitated by volunteers from Riverside Bank and is intended give participants a better understanding of how credit works. Participants will be able to define credit; explain why it is important; distinguish between secured and unsecured loans; identify three types of loans; identify the costs associated with getting a loan; explain why it is important to be wary of rent-to-own, pay-day loan, and refund anticipation services; and determine if they are ready to apply for credit.
The FDIC created the Money Smart program to help individuals build their financial knowledge, develop financial confidence, and use banking services effectively. All sessions are free to attend and will be held at 6:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month until May 2010 at Childcare Resources, 1801 24
th Street in Vero Beach. For more information, contact Rachael Moshman at 772.567.3202 or
