For the past seven years the HomelessFamilyCenter has been part of the University of Notre Dame's Summer Service Program. Students who apply for this program must commit to eight weeks of service in one of the 300 approved sites across the nation in exchange for university credit and a small scholarship.
This summer Adeline Dozois, a rising sophomore at Notre Dame chose the Homeless Family Center, Inc. for her experience. Adeline was provided with an entire overview of agency operations, programs and collaborative community efforts for providing services to homeless families. She truly became an asset to the staff and the families living at the Center. During her time at HFC, she assisted staff in implementing a program to meet the needs of the children.
Adeline is originally from Bradenton, Florida and graduated first in her class from SoutheastHigh School. At the University of Notre Dame she is a traveling member of the water polo team (which is currently ranked 9 th among club teams nationally), the French club, and several committees for her dormitory. Academically, Adeline maintains a 3.95 GPA.
The HomelessFamilyCenter and the Notre Dame Club of Vero Beach truly appreciated the dedication and professionalism in which Adeline exhibited. The HFC staff presented Adeline with an engraved silver heart jewelry box on Aug. 15 th to express their appreciation of service to her and wished her much success in her future endeavors.
