The Salvation Army Rings In Red Kettle Campaign
Contributed by: John Corapi on 9/2/2009

September 3rd, 2009

The Salvation Army of Indian River County is know for its Red Shield logo and Shinny Red Kettles during the Holidays but it is also a ministry and faith-based social services organization whose work is based upon the love of God, the love of our fellow man and our faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to meet, without discrimination, the physical and spiritual needs of all members of the local community.

We are committed to helping those in need achieve personal growth and self-sufficiency through all available resources, community partnerships and local volunteer networks.

Our social services office in Vero Beach is crowded with more people than usual who are asking for assistance because of these difficult economic times. Many have exhausted every other agency and government-sponsored aid program and have nowhere else to turn. We do our best - we stretch a dollar bill to unbelievable lengths - but our efforts go only so far without more financial support.

Like many charities, The Salvation Army has experienced a decline in donations. Therefore, this Christmas season, as we pull out our brass bells and red kettles and shine our horns in anticipation of our Red Kettle Season, we kicked off the Red Kettle Sponsorship Campaign.

The Sponsorship opportunities are as follows:

Gold Bell: For $2,000 your business name/logo will be displayed on one of our red kettle locations in Indian River County for the entire season (6 weeks).
Silver Bell: For $1250, your business name/logo will be displayed for 3 weeks.
Bronze Bell: For $500, your business name/logo will be displayed for 9 days.

Some of the programs the sponsorship donations will support are:

The Feeding Program
Our Mobile canteen supplies food to shut-ins and others in need in our community.
serves over 900 meals a month. Every Monday and Friday, a team of volunteers cooks and delivers hot lunches to elderly shut-ins in Indian River County.

Disaster Services
When disaster strikes, the Salvation Army's mobile canteens supply food, clothing, blankets and medical supplies to the victims of disaster. Volunteers comfort victims, help reunite families and find emergency shelters. We also help with massive cleanups and reconstruction in major disasters.

Social Services program: Everyday needs are met with this program by providing assistance with food, rent, utilities and seasonal assistance.

Youth Programs
Each corps community center has religious and character building programs such as Sunday school, troop programs, music classes, athletics, arts and crafts, summer camps, after school programs and family services to help the parents break the cycle of homelessness and crime so that their children will have a bright future.

These are just some of the many programs and services that The Salvation Army of IRC provides to our great community. Many of the residents of Indian River County depend on the services we provide to make a positive difference in their daily lives.

For more information on a sponsorship contact John Corapi Director of Development at 772-766-0168. We have over 20 Kettle locations to choose from.
