Become a Salvation Army Angel this Holiday Season
Contributed by: John Corapi on 9/17/2009

VERO BEACH, Fla. - (September 17th, 2009) - Looking for a way to make a difference in the community? Looking for a great feel good project for your employees during Christmas? Looking for a way to give back? How about participating in The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program?

What is the Angel Tree Program? Simply put, the Angel Tree program provides new toys and clothes for needy area children, as well as gifts for needy senior citizens, at Christmas time. For many, the gifts and clothes they receive through The Salvation Army's Angel tree program are the only gifts these kids will have to open on Christmas morning.

A sponsoring company or corporation places a Christmas tree in a secure, high-pedestrian traffic area or lobby. The tree is decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child who will receive the gift. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags. The toys are then delivered to the unit and later picked up by the parent to distribute to the child/children on Christmas Day.

For years, The Salvation Army has called upon local businesses and organizations to make a difference in kid's lives by participating in the Angel Tree program. This past year, companies and organizations provided toys and clothes for 3138 people from 615 families.

This year, Due to the economic climate we anticipate serving a significantly higher number of families, and that is where you come in. To help bring joy to a child this Christmas, there are several ways to participate:

1) Become an Angel Tree Sponsor
2) Hold a new Toy Drive
3) Volunteer your time

Its that simple..!
