The staff, Board of Directors and patients served at Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the John's Island Foundation for their generosity over the past few years. Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic is a non-profit outpatient rehabilitation facility located at 1705 17 th Avenue that has been serving the residents of Indian River County since 1953. In 2006 we embarked upon a large expansion of our current facility to better meet the needs of this community.

Beginning in 2007, the Clinic received grants from the John's Island Foundation that allowed us to purchase new electronic equipment for paperless charting; a Balance Master for computerized balance assessment and treatment; new furniture for our Community Room; and office furniture for our entire staff. In addition, we were able to re-pave our parking lot and purchase additional fitness equipment for our gym.

In 2009, a generous grant from the Foundation allowed us to install a small full kitchenette in our Community Room, which will enable us to utilize that space for outside events such as meetings and luncheons to raise additional funds for the Clinic. We also replaced old sliding glass doors in our lobby with impact-resistant glass doors, purchased a new washer and dryer for in-house laundry, and a new clinical recumbent bicycle for our gym.

In total, Sunshine has received over $110,000 from the John's Island Foundation over the years, and we are extremely thankful to this wonderful organization for their assistance in helping us to meet the needs of this community. We receive no taxpayer assistance, and depend upon the support of this community to continue our mission of providing the highest quality rehabilitation services to those in need. With recent declines in reimbursement from insurance carriers, and the rising numbers of uninsured and underinsured residents here in Indian River County, the need for our services is expected to climb. We are ready to meet this challenge thanks to the generosity of the John's Island Foundation!
