Warren Zeuch, Fellow Rotarians Honored

ROTARY CLUB OF VERO BEACH - Long-time local businessman and Rotarian Warren T. Zeuch was honored for his 50-plus years of perfect attendance and 57 years of service to Rotary during the Rotary Club of Vero Beach's annual Awards Luncheon in June at Quail Valley. Andy Lawrence was named Rotarian of the Year for his outstanding work heading the club's annual Salute To Youth event and as Membership Chairman.

Several club members were recognized for their special effort in a number of service areas as the club ended its 07-08 year. Outgoing club President Sam Rohlfing Baita presented the awards.

Trophies were presented to: John Schumann Jr., Club Philanthropy Award; Joe and Carol Palowich, Volunteers of the Year; and Billy Rolison, Rookie of the Year. Plaques were awarded to: John Carroll; Hit the Deck Running award; George Barkett, Let There Be Music award; David Lord, Invocation Chairman; Daniel Fourmont, Program Chairman; Richard Durr, Many Hats Award; Mary Jane Keriokas, Youth Reading Program.

Certificates of appreciation were presented to the outgoing board and officers: David Osgood, Bill Pomeroy, John Carroll, Trish Scattergood, Reese Brackins, Kathryn Barton, Ronnie Hewett, Andy Lawrence and Ken Ligon III.

Certificates also went to: Ted Allen, Lamb Baste; Roman Ortega-Cowan, music and flan; Steve Lauer, involved Immediate Past President; Dick Cantner, Youth Reading Program; Mark Schumann, newsletter printing.

Highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of a special crystal and wood trophy to Warren Zeuch. Special guest, Rotary 6930 District Governor Phil Lustig, travelled from South Florida to make the presentation. An ensemble made up of Roman Ortega-Cowan, George Barkett, John Papageorge, Joe Palowich, Sam Rohlfing Baita and Tania Ortega-Cowan (director), with Carol Palowich on piano, performed a song written especially for Warren, to the tune of "There Is Nothing Like A Dame" - "We All Love You, Warren Zeuch!" During the song, Daniel Fourmont presented Warren's wife, Molly, with a floral bouquet. Daniel and the ensemble all wore bright colors, in recognition of Warren's well-known very colorful clothing choices.

District Governor Lustig presented Ms. Baita witha District 6930 Award for Leadership of the Best Club.
