More than 30 local artists competed in the Cultural Council of Indian River County Event Planner inaugural Cover Design Competition and the six finalists were all on hand at an Unveiling Reception, hosted by Marine Bank and Trust. The winner was Stacey Ekey, whose intricate design, Citrus Movement, beautifully captures the essence of history and culture in Indian River County in a drawing comprised of pencil, pen and ink and watercolors.
Submissions included a variety of media and, even just among the finalists, were as varied as acrylic and oil paints, watercolor, photography and graphic arts. Other finalists were Barbara Sharp, Cultural Canvas; Julia Carter, Bicycle Built for Who; J. Scott Kelly, 14th Avenue Theatre Plaza; Bernice O'Brien, Theatre Plaza and Tammy Adams, Cultural Cornucopia.
The Cultural Council Event Planner is a free comprehensive guide to social and educational events in our area. Artwork by the finalists will be on exhibit at Marine Bank and Trust through October 22; artwork from other contestants will be on display at the Cultural Council office, located in the Theatre Plaza on 14th Avenue in downtown Vero Beach.
