The Homeless Family Center and Samaritan Center collaborated together to plan a Family Fun Day for homeless families. The event was held on Saturday, June 14 th at Samaritan Center from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. The day consisted of water games, balloon toss, relay races, tattoos, face painting, a hula hoop contest and a great barbecue.
Special visitors included the IRC Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit, McGruff - Stranger Danger and IRC Fire and Rescue trucks and team. Sponsors of the event included: Homeless Family Center, Samaritan Center, Firehouse Subs, Burger King, Indian River County Sheriff's Department, Indan River County Fire Department, K.I.R.B. Recycling, Crime Prevention and Williston Police Department.
On the TreasureCoast there are over 1500 homeless individuals, including families with children.
The Homeless Family Center and Samaritan Center are providing homeless families with the tools needed to become successful independent residents in this community.
