FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUTISM SPEAKS NAMES SUSAN MAXWELL AND MARCIA WEINSTEIN WALK CO- CHAIRS FOR
INAUGURAL TREASURE COAST WALK NOW FOR AUTISM
Jensen Beach, Florida (August 19, 2008) - Autism Speaks, the nation's largest autism advocacy organization, today announced that Susan Maxwell and Marcia Weinstein have been named Walk Co-Chairs for the Inaugural Treasure Coast Walk Now for Autism. Maxwell and Weinstein will be responsible for directing the Inaugural Treasure Coast Walk Now for Autism community event on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Jensen Beach High School.
Susan Maxwell's experience as Co-chair of the 2008 Palm Beach Walk Now for Autism and as a real estate agent for Premier Reality and Marcia Weinstein's advocacy efforts for the autism community and leader of the local Autism Society make them the ideal people to lead the team of dedicated volunteers on the Treasure Coast.
"I am very excited to co-chair the Inaugural Treasure Coast Walk Now for Autism", said Marcia Weinstein. "Our Community demonstrated its commitment to Autism Speaks and Autism Awareness at last year's walk and this is our opportunity to bring more awareness to the growing autism community and shine on our own!"
At a recent committee meeting Susan Maxwell shared, "It is truly my honor to be co-chair for the Autism Speaks Walk Now for Autism Event this February. I am happy to give back to a community that has done so much for my son Matthew and our family. We consider ourselves to be truly blessed to be able to help other families as we have been helped by others here."
For more information about the 2009 Treasure Coast Walk Now for Autism, to be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Jensen Beach High School, visit www.walknowforautism.org/treasurecoast.

The day includes a 2 to 3 mile walk and Community Resource fair with educational sources, therapists, schools, recreational organizations, and creative child-friendly activities; a true "one-stop-shop" for families affected by autism. This year Toys"R"Us will have a tented space serving as home base for Geoffrey the Giraffe. Attendees will also be able to stop by and sign their children up for Geoffrey's Birthday Club and pick up the "Ten Toys That Speak to Autism" handout, a list of toys that help build the skills of children with autism, created in collaboration with Autism Speaks.
Walk Now for Autism event is the signature fundraising event for Autism Speaks, raising more than $26 million last year, alone, to support autism research. This year, over 70 walks will take place across the United States, as well as Canada and the United Kingdom. Visit www.walknowforautism.org for more information.
