Halloween and Georgie Girl's Story
My early life was spent being abused and beaten. I was thrown out of a pickup truck on the highway and left to fend for myself. Then one day the Humane Society found me.
At a year and half and blind in one eye, I was finished with the human race. But Margaret saw a spark in me and insisted I make an effort to live. So she adopted me. I was afraid of people, sounds and anything. I would stay in my crate rolled up like a ball. I was determined never to trust a human again. It took months for me to trust my new family.
One day about two years ago, we were invited to a Halloween Party at Off-Leash Park. I did not want to go! But we did and Margaret won the raffle for a year's membership. On no I thought, I do not what to be here. There are way too many people too many dogs. Oh no this is not for me. Talk about fear, the first few times we went I stayed so closed to Margaret I looked like he third foot.
For the first 6 to 9 months, I had to check people out many times before I would let them pet me. Well it is almost two years later and it does not take me long to size up anyone. Before you wanted to pet me now you want me to get my fifty pound butt off you lap. (Ha Ha)
To date, I will not walk on the city street because I am still afraid. Sometimes I scare myself. So starting about 2 pm each day I start my antics, "it's time to go to the Park." There I am a free soul. I can run, play with my friends like Jenny and Mitzie, take a snooze and do my business as long as Margaret takes care of it.
I cannot Thank Off-Leash Park and Dogs for Life enough. You have made it possible for me to enjoy life. See if you can recognize me at the up coming Halloween Party.
