With a goal of feeding 2000 families this Thanksgiving, Harvest Food & Outreach Center has begun its 2009 Thanksgiving Food Drive. Donations for "Thanksgiving-type" items will be collected October 26 ththrough November 13 th, with food distribution to needy families November 20 ththrough 25 th. Requested items include canned ham, yams, condensed milk, desserts, instant mashed potatoes and jars of gravy. For a complete list of items, visit www.harvestfoodoutreach.org. Collection sites for the Thanksgiving Food Drive include their newest campus at 1360 28 th Street in Vero Beach and their Ft. Pierce campus at 2520 Orange Avenue. collection sites are needed, and businesses, churches and even neighborhoods are encouraged to participate. In addition to the food items, monetary donations for the Thanksgiving effort are also being accepted. One box for a family of four costs the agency $30 to purchase.
