The Exchange Club of Vero Beach honored Vero Beach High School seniors Kathleen Grossman and Travonte Boles as its students of the month for October. Kathleen has an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and Travonte has an unweighted GPA of 3.3.
Travonte is an All-State offensive lineman on the Fighting Indians football team. After graduation, his goal is to attend a Division One school to play football. Travonte is also a wrestler and has volunteered at the Sheriff's Youth Camp.
Kathleen is cross-country captain and a tennis player. She is the sports editor for the yearbook. Kathleen is a national merit scholar, is on the National Honor Society and the Quill & Scroll. She is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta math team. Kathleen plans to attend college and pursue a career in orthodontics.
Each month the Exchange Club of Vero Beach honors a young man and young woman as its students of the month. The students receive a monetary award for showing academic and leadership excellence. These outstanding youth go on to compete for the Club's Youth of the year, District Youth of the Year, and ultimately the National Youth of the Year Award.
Exchange, America's Service Club, is a group of men and women working together to make our communities better places to live through programs of service in Americanism, Community Service, Youth Activities, and its national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse. Funds for the Club's charitable gifts and scholarships are raised through its fundraising efforts, including the sale of Christmas trees, citrus and nut sales.
