The award-winning documentary "Gimme Green," a humorous look at America's lawn obsession and its impact on our water supply, will be shown at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach on Sunday, November 1, at 7 p.m. A discussion period will follow. This community-wide, interdenominational Social Justice Film Series is in its fourth year. It is open to the public, there is no charge and no reservations are needed.
Cammie Donaldson of Melbourne will be the presenter. She will provide additional discussion on the history of turf and alternative landscape approaches, including the use of Florida native plants. Donaldson is executive director of the Association of Florida Native Nurseries and editor of The Guide for Real Florida Gardeners. She has been an active member of the Florida Native Plant Society for over 20 years and advocates for a variety of environmental and social justice causes.
The UUFVB Fair Trade Corner will be open one-half hour prior to the film.
The UUFVB is located on the southeast corner of 27th Avenue and 16th Street. For further information about the series, please call 772-778-5880.
