Randy Tremblay, an appraiser with Adam Preuss Appraisal Services, is the 2008-2009 president of the expanded board of directors of the Youth Guidance Volunteer Program. Dee Giannotti, a financial advisor with Cypress Capital Group, is President-Elect. The new secretary is Candace MacMillan of the MacMillan Family Foundation, and the treasurer is Patrick Graham, CPA, O'Haire, Kmetz, Nuttall, & Elwell and Company.
Other members of the board include Debbie Chew, Michelle Dion, Mandy Hall, Mark Hornbuckle, Rebecca Hornbuckle, Joe Idlette III, Mary Johnston, Warren Lewis, Andrew Molloy, Steve Smith, and Gerry Thistle. Kathy Collins, Stacey Miller, Nancy Milsten, Chris Sexton, and Michael Zickert will serve on the Advisory Board.
The Youth Guidance volunteer mentoring program, founded in 1973, serves 700 at-risk 4-16 year-old children in Indian River County. Its major purpose is to match each child in the program with an adult volunteer known as a mentor who meets with the child every week. Unfortunately, more than 500 of the children registered are waiting to be paired with a mentor. Opportunities to participate with these "unmatched" children in special activities and outings occur throughout the year, especially in the summer.
The agency is actively seeking volunteers who want to make a difference in a child's life to serve as mentors and occasional volunteers or to provide regular help in the office. Individuals who want to know more about volunteering at Youth Guidance may visit the www.ircyouth.com website or call Barbara Schlitt Ford, Executive Director, at 772-770-5040 for further information.
