Christmas came early for New Horizons and Santa arrived in a shiny black Ford pick-up truck with red leather seats. He was dressed in a white cotton shirt with a sailfish logo and even though the temperature was 90 degrees plus, he carried with him the holiday spirit.
Instead of bringing brightly colored packages and toys, he appeared at the Midway location to grant the wishes of employees Joanne Knight and Linda Wakefield. With a few jingles of his cell phone, giant road equipment magically appeared. His helpers went straight to work and in the blinking of an eye dozens of deep potholes in the parking lot were filled and paved.
Then, sturdy cranes arrived and lifted ancient tree stumps and chunks of concrete and iron into waiting dump trucks, and cleared an old construction debris pit.
Robert Trenary (aka Santa) is the owner of Precision Paving and Excavation of Ft. Pierce. For the past fourteen years, his company has worked on a number of commercial and residential projects on the Treasure Coast. "We were happy to help New Horizons," he said. "We know that times are hard right now, and it was a way for our company to give back to the community," he said.
"We are so grateful for this wonderful act of kindness," said Knight, VP of Human Resources. "We couldn't afford to have the parking lot repaired and Robert came through for us and patched everything."
"At the same time, we were doing preliminary work on the construction site for the Children's Crisis Center, and we discovered this old construction pit," said Wakefield, Facilities Manager. "In an extraordinary act of generosity, Robert offered to clear the pit...and saved us thousands of dollars!" "It was truly Christmas in July," she said.
