EXCHANGE CLUB OF INDIAN RIVER WINS NATIONAL AWARDS

The National Exchange Club awarded Exchange Club of Indian River the Big "E" Award for 2007-2008 in recognition of its membership growth, program development, community service, and club activities. Only 37 clubs out of the nearly 800 Exchange Clubs in the United States and Puerto Rico earned this award. The local club also received the National Service Award.

The national organization also honored three officers of the club for their service. Jeff Smith, 2007-2008 president, received the Distinguished Club President Award, one of only 35 club presidents in the country to do so. Marllyn Justice earned the Distinguished Club Treasurer Award, and Jan Binney received the Distinguished Club Secretary Award.

This local service club supports Indian River County youth-related charities for prevention of child abuse and club awards that honor Vero Beach High School and Alternative Education Center Accepting the Challenge of Excellence (ACE) award recipients and Students of the Quarter at Indian River Charter High School. Exchange Club of Indian River Foundation's fundraisers include the Blue Water Open Offshore Charity Fishing Tournament each Memorial Day weekend, the annual Charity Reverse Raffle, and an innovative program that donates a portion of members' online purchases to the Foundation.
