The Pirate Lacrosse League,
now known as the Treasure League, continues on after a tremendously successful 2007 fall season, with nearly 200 boys and girls participating. The Treasure Lacrosse League is a community-wide youth lacrosse program for students entering grades one through eight from all schools across the Treasure Coast. The league has two divisions, one for girls and one for boys with four age groups, representing grades one through eight.
The ten-week fall schedule has been set and the first practice will be held on Thursday, September 19. Practices and games will be held at Point West Polo fields. Practices will be held on Thursdays, 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm., and games will be on Saturday afternoons. Open registration will be held on Saturday, August 2, Noon - 3:00 at Pointe West.
Teamwork, sportsmanship and a solid skill foundation for lacrosse fundamentals are the goals of the league. Contact in both divisions will be controlled with emphasis on the ball and play. Director and Founder, Kent Smith, twice Florida High School All-American and member of the Hobart College National Championship Team, oversees a team of volunteers which includes coaches, parents and past players.
If you are interested in being a volunteer coach or assisting in a volunteer coordinator capacity, please contact Kent Smith at 772-538-6002. The league is planning to hold a coaching clinic this summer for parents and other adults interested in coaching during the 2008-2009 fall and spring seasons.
The league is recognized by US Lacrosse. Each player will become a USL member and receive member benefits. To pre-register or for more information on the league, log onto
