37 Pets Microchipped at Pawprints Low-Cost Clinic
Contributed by: Mike Winikoff on 5/15/2007

Pawprints of Vero Beach, in conjunction with Dr. Lisa Jutras of St. Francis Animal Hospital, held a low-cost microchip clinic on Saturday, May 12. The event was a grand success, as 31 dogs and 6 cats were microchipped by Dr. Jutras.

While there are several good microchips on the market, for this clinic we used HomeAgain, which you can learn about at www.homeagain.com. The HomeAgain microchip is the only one which allows for "Amber Alerts" for lost dogs and cats to be sent to humane societies, veterinary offices, and animal control, speeding up the reunification process. But if you already have one of the other ones, such as Avid, don't worry -- Avid is a great chip also!

Pawprints and Dr. Jutras, as well as the local and national Humane Societies, recommend that all dogs and cats be microchipped. In combination with collars and I.D. tags, microchips greatly increase the odds that a lost dog or cat will be reunited with his/her family. If you missed our clinic and wish to have your dog or cat microchipped, please contact your veterinarian, or Dr. Jutras at St. Francis Animal Hospital, 772-299-0313, or The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County, 772-567-2309.

And don't forget that Dog Day-Care is an important part of your dog's socialization and education! For further information about our dog day-care services, visit our website at www.pawprintsverobeach.com, or call 772-567-2121.
