Love is in the Air at Indian River Estates
VERO BEACH, FL, August 12, 2008 - Whether you've been married seven years or 70, every day is a good day to tell your spouse you love them. Sharing your commitment and devotion to one another in a public setting makes it even more special.
Residents of a Vero Beach ACTS retirement community, Indian River Estates, recently reaffirmed their wedding vows and wowed the crowd with their passion and commitment.
Indian River Estates had five couples totaling 368 years of marriage altogether, ranging from "newlyweds" Richard and Gini Knoblauch celebrating 52 years of marriage to Allen and Ann Hubbard with a whopping 71 years under their belt, according to Patti Petrone who coordinated the event. Charles and Florence Piat celebrated 67 years, Walter and Grace Warren 61 years; Fred and Barbara Tinsey 60 years, and Tom and Dee Dooley 57 years.
"It's amazing to watch them look into each other's eyes and feel the presence of so much love," Petrone continued. Next year she is hoping to expand the reception program to include a dinner cruise.
Thankfully we have role models in our midst who are willing to share what selfless love looks like. Congratulations to the five couples who have weathered the storms of life and can truly share how selfless love is indeed the answer.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
All the couples surely agree it's best to enjoy the rollercoaster of life as a team who focuses on the positive attributes of one another and not the negative. Three cheers to our Vero Beach neighbors who have made it this far and are still laughing and loving through six decades of marriage.
Residents comment that living at Indian River Estates certainly helps to foster a good marriage since there is plenty of time to be together, no worry about paying bills, cooking, cleaning or maintenance ~ some of the mundane things that keep us from truly enjoying life and one another.
