VB DEVIL RAYS TO HOST OLYMPIC NIGHT THURSDAY, AUGUST 7!
Olympic Night to Be Prefaced by Anti-Doping Night on Tuesday, August 5


VERO BEACH, Fla. - The Vero Beach Devil Rays are pleased to announce they will hold Olympic Night at Holman Stadium on Thursday, August 7 as the team takes on the Brevard County Manatees at 7 p.m. The Devil Rays will salute the Beijing Summer Olympic Games with a variety of activities, games and prizes throughout the evening. Olympic Night is also a Thirsty Thursday in Holman Stadium, as fans can enjoy $1 small beers all night long!

Before Olympic Night, however, the Devil Rays want to promote healthy living and a drug-free lifestyle with Anti-Doping Night on Tuesday, August 5. The Rays want to ensure their Olympic competition will be a fair, clean event for all participants, and discourage the use of drugs or steroids in any form. Anti-Doping Night will feature plenty of fun facts and trivia for fans in attendance, and the Blood Mobile will be on hand taking donations.

Olympic Night will kick off with a torch-bearing relay and Opening Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, and will feature 10 Olympic events throughout the night between innings, including: a distance race, 200 meter race, archery, boxing, soccer and cycling, to name a few. A Closing Ceremony to end Olympic Night will also take place immediately following the Rays' game, as well.

Olympic Trials will take place on Monday, August 4 at 5 p.m. to qualify individuals for the actual Olympic Night events on Thursday, August 7 at the game. Interested participants MUST be present at the Trials to participate in the Olympics. Each event winner on Olympic Night at Holman will receive a gold medal, as well!
