Sorry, but this wonderful camp has been canceled for this year.
The 2008 Culture Camp - Learning Peace Through Play - will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 11 through 15 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach. The camp will provide an opportunity for young people to develop cultural literacy and good character in a fun, rewarding way, honoring the truth in every culture's traditions.
This year's camp will feature four different cultures - Japan, Holland, Colombia and India. As campers visit each culture, they will participate in activities that draw from the tradition of dance, music, crafts, myths and religions of each culture. Campers will enjoy building trust, teamwork and cooperation through music, storytelling, dance, cuisine and games. Each will receive a "travel bag" containing a passport, world map, camera and other travel items, and they will receive a stamp and souvenir from each culture they visit.
The Culture Camp will serve campers from age 6 to 12, with enrollment limited to 20 campers. The fee is $100 per child. Two trained facilitators will work with the campers as well as counselors-in-training.
The UUFVB is located on the southeast corner of 27th Avenue and 16th Street. For further information or to ask for a brochure, please call 772-778-5880.
