2008 Summer Kayak Kamp

Kayaks Etc Summer Kayak Kamp offers kids an exciting entry into the world of paddle sports. From day one we will be on the water practicing proper paddling skills and learning about our local ecology. This weeklong camp is chock full of activity. Lunch will be provided and the full-day schedule is friendly to working parents.

In case of inclement weather, we will be indoors and have plenty of activities planned, such as painting your own paddle, making fossils, creating bird and fish ID cards, etc...

Games, instruction and paddling excursions are designed around teaching essential paddle skills, like the forward, stop and reverse strokes, entering and exiting boats, self-rescues and on the water safety. For 2008 we will be offering 3 Weeks of our Kid's Kayak Day Kamp $195 per camper.

Session One June 9 th - 13 th
Session Two June 23 rd - 27 th
Session Three July 14 th - 18 th

Our trip leader Kristen Beck, owner of Kayaks Etc LLC., holds a degree in Marine Science, is a Registered Maine Guide a trained EMT and is currently working on her certification as a Florida Master Naturalist. Kristen has over 13 years of experience in leading trips and teaching on rivers, lakes, ocean and the backcountry of Maine. Along with his years of trip experience Kristen has formal training with Girl Scouts of America as an Aquatics Director, American Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor. Kristen's past experience with youths include Lead Guide for Moxie Outdoors and Unicorn Outdoor Adventures whitewater rafting trips with various camps, Aquatics Director, Program Coordinator & Outdoor Educator at Camp Sacajawea in Farmingdale, NJ. Kristen has owned and operated Kayaks Etc LLC. for the past (2) years specializing in day trips for local youth organizations and adults.
