Business & Stock Market Camp for 7 to 12th graders

Adam Smith Business Academy will conduct a Business - Stock Market - Entrepreneurship Camp from Monday, June 9 to Friday June 13, 2008. The half day camp will meet at the Vero Beach Community Center in the Florida Room from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. The camp is designed to introduce 7th to 12th graders to an overview of business concepts such as the difference between Capitalism, Socialism, and Communism, the Balance Sheet, the Income Statement, Forms of business ownership, Essentials of a Contract, Trademark, Copyright, Patent, Marketing, Branding, Public Relations, Advertising, Modern Management Theory, Present and Future Value Theory. The camp will then progress to an exploration of the Stock Market covering topics such as Price/Earnings Ratios, Growth and Value models, Technical and Fundamental Analysis, Risk Aversion Attitudes, Diversification and Portfolio Management. The creative processes, and challenges associated with Entrepreneurship will also be explored.

The camp will present the material using the Socratic method promoting discussion of the topics with real life examples to which campers can relate. Small group case studies and camper presentations are also utilized to give campers a hands on experience. A Game Quiz Show reinforces the material on a regular basis, and an online Stock Market competition will continue over the summer. Notebooks will be provided, and all Campers will receive a certificate of completion from Adam Smith Business Academy. Completion of this camp will also make campers eligible to participate in a future Student Entrepreneurship Expo.
