Reduce Your Driving Miles & Save $$$
Contributed by: Ed Shanaphy on 7/24/2008

As gas prices go up, we must all look at each and every car journey we make in these harder economic times. Publix, the dry cleaner, the vet, and other small trips all add up to an average of 11,000 miles per annum per family car and with it being close to $4.00 a gallon, you can see the savings stack up.

Firstly, walking and running to do an errand each day could save you up to 250 miles a year in gas and car wear and tear. So put on those "dancing shoes" and get out there and burn the calories rather than pushing the accelerator.

There are so many ways, with the internet and other methods, of saving on those highly priced car trips. Think of what you save by not travelling down to the nearest Nike Foot Locker when you can order your same running shoes month in and month out at zappos.com - the greatest shoe store in the USA, albeit a virtual store. Delivery is usually the next day.

Internet banking is another great way to save on fuel costs. And we also forget that you can just post a cheque and a deposit slip. Save up a few cheques and you'll find the cost of a stamp is cheaper these days than a trip to your local bank's branch. Internet banking is now safe and secure and easy to use.

For your music and DVD needs, for nostalgia music and television, why not visit Yestermusic.com

Each visit to such a website offering home delivery or a service saves you money and helps the environment as well, which is something central to our modern day living.

For those of you who cannot be inspired by the internet or the Nintendo Wii, why not have a home personal trainer come to your home. Not only do you save your gas money on those trips to the gym, but you also save on the ever-increasing-costs of gym membership. A membership does not always provide inspiration, but a one-to-one personal training course cannot fail to do so. And, you can't escape when the fitness expert arrives at your door. Try Get Fit At Home or call them on 772 539 7400.

There are so many other ways to save. Circuit City now offers credit on all purchases within 60 days over the phone if you find your latest purchase from them cheaper than when you bought your item. Save not only the difference in cost, but the gas mileage to get to your local store. All it takes is a phone call, and make sure you have free local calling!
