Rwandan Minister Supports Koinonia Foundation
Contributed by: Katie-Lee Johnson, Yates & Associates on 1/22/2008

WABASSO, Florida/January 22, 2008- The Rwandan Minister of Energy, Honorable Eng. Albert Butare, has lent his support to the Koinonia Foundation's efforts to supply lighting and solar power for the people of Rwanda. "Electricity remains elusive for the people of Rwanda; only 5% of the population has access to electricity," said Minister Butare. "The Koinonia Foundation is helping to overcome this challenge - one light at a time."

The Koinonia Foundation, a 501(c) 3 not for profit foundation headquartered in Jensen Beach, Florida and Grand Rapids, Michigan, will provide an estimated 10,000 solar powered lighting systems, known as K-Lights, to Rwanda this summer with the ultimate goal of providing up to a million lights to the country.

"In addition to providing free solar lighting, we will be providing solar power to clinics and community centers in many Rwandan villages," said Andrew Williams, President, the Koinonia Foundation. "We are very pleased to have Minister Butare endorse and thank us for our efforts to eliminate kerosene lighting in his country," added Williams.

Honorable Minister Butare said each solar powered light, and each school or clinic supplied with solar power, means a child's life becomes enriched. "Further, the Koinonia Foundation's efforts to help Rwandan women become entrepreneurs through the assembly and sale of K-Lights, also is to be applauded as a very worthwhile project," added Butare.

The Minister Butare letter of thanks comes on the heels of an announcement that the Koinonia Foundation hopes to raise $10,000 in MartinCounty over the next two months to supply a technical schools with funds to purchase books for their school. The special library project, called Read Rwanda, is being headed up locally by Ashley Garrigan of the Hoke Library in Jensen Beach, Florida, USA. "Our goal is initially to raise $10,000 to purchase books for the school's library. Of course, if anyone would like to help exceed that goal, we would be pleased to accept any donation, no matter how small or large," said Garrigan. One hundred percent of funds raised will go to the library.

The Koinonia Foundation receives its funding through grants and private donations, of which 100 percent goes directly to projects. Administrative overhead for the Foundation is covered through a grant from the Williams Group I, L.L.C. The Koinonia Foundation was founded by Dale L. Williams, M.D., and remains a family foundation run by the Williams family. The family's goals are to expand the Koinonia Foundation across Africa and to continue to interact and cooperate with organizations in the United States and abroad.

The Koinonia Foundation is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Jensen Beach, Florida. For additional information about the Koinonia Foundation, contact Andrew Williams, President, at info@kfaid.com , or visit their website at www.kfaid.com.
